Once again quite close, but no points achieved

AC Trampi vs Żurrieq Old Boys - 11/02/2011 - 3-4

The first half against Żurrieq Old Boys was tactically perfect for AC Trampi. The defence held for 25 minutes without getting any goal. The half ended even better when Chris Formosa, in the 25th minute, netted the first goal of the game on a counter attack. During the first half, AC Trampi was dangerous on various occasions. Jonathan Sammut hit the post in the first minute and his shoot in the 23rd minute was saved by the Żurrieq keeper. Joseph Mifsud was unlucky when his attempts to score where saved twice in the same action.

In the second half, Żurrieq Old Boys changed their way of playing by putting one of their players as a pivot always close to AC Trampi’s defence. This helped them to score two goals in few minutes. AC Trampi kept their nerves calm and managed to score their draw goal after a beautiful action between Rodney Bugeja and Sammut, with Bugeja netting the 2-2 goal. The draw was saved by some good saves by the AC Trampi keeper, Wayne Dimech. On the 18th minute, Bugeja was in the right place and the right time on a corner given by AC Trampi to score the 3-2 goal. For AC Trampi, the first three points were close. However, only minute later Żurrieq managed to score another goal and on the 22nd minute scored even the fourth goal with the ball passing slowly behind Dimech. AC Trampi tried to at least get one point from the game. However, their attempts were in vain.

On a side note, the game ended on a negative note. One of Żurrieq Old Boys injured his ankle badly and thus he could not move. He had to wait for about 30 minutes for an ambulance to arrive as there are no ambulances on a stand-by in an official match. The game was stopped and resumed after the ambulance arrived. We wish Russell Camilleri a quick recovery.
