A missed opportunity

AC Trampi vs Red Marleys- 01/04/2011 - 0-4

The game against Red Marleys, a direct opponent for staying in the third division, was a golden opportunity to get closer to New Team who were just four points ahead. However, once again too much pressure played a bad trick on AC Trampi’s players.

The game started immediately on a bad note for AC Trampi as two Red Marleys’ players missed a goal alone against Steven Xuereb after only 3 minutes. AC Trampi tried to react but Clifton Calleja shot above the post from just one meter away from the net. The rest of the half was most of the time defending the long balls thrown by the Red Marleys’ keeper. Xuereb’s double save in the 18th minute was in vain as Red Marlyes succeeded to go one goal ahead in the same action.Christopher Formosa succeed to keep the score as it was before the end of the first half by saving a goal on the line.

The second half started with high hopes for AC Trampi. Steve Falzon went very close to the goal after a good action between him and Formosa. These hopes soon started to vanish as Red Marlyes succeeded to score the second goal. In the rest twenty minutes AC Trampi tried to grab at least a draw but they did no not succeed to penetrate the Red Marleys’ defence. In the last minutes , while AC Trampi were trying their utmost in attack, Red Marleys scored the third and fourth goal.

Hopes are still not dead but it will be only a miracle that can keep AC Trampi from being relagated in the fourth division.
